Two Coronavirus Deaths in Florida; New York Declares Emergency

The U.S. death toll for the novel coronavirus grew to at least 19 Saturday as states and countries around the world escalated their efforts to combat the rapidly spreading viral infection.

Florida reported the first two deaths on the U.S. East Coast as Washington, D.C., diagnosed its first presumptive case. In Washington state, new deaths were reported and infections rose above 100, and New York state declared a state of emergency as officials announced a jump in new cases.
